Patricia Zapata is a graphic designer that lives in Texas with her husband and two children. She began her solo career after the birth of her child in 2000. In 2001 she launched Zapata Design, a graphic design boutique that caters to small and mid-sized companies in the creation of logos and corporate identity packages. As her business grew she realized that there was something missing.

Patricia longed for time away from the computer, further develop her handmade work and combine it with her love for paper. The success and the comments she received because of a birthday card that she made gave A Little Hut is origin. She started slowly with stationery and hand cut paper illustrations.

Alongside her work for A Little Hut, Patricia started writing a blog by the same name. She writes about handmade creations and her inspiration and ideas for future projects.


Even though A Little Hut has transformed from the original stationery line it started with, the core elements of Patricia’s designs have stayed the same. She works with graphic images as well as nature inspired themes and applies them to the creation of craft ebooks, paper illustrations, SVG files for card making and scrapbooking among others and fabric.

Patricia’s paper and recycling work has been featured in many online publications such as Craft, Apartment Therapy, Ohdeedoh, Re-nest, Decor8, Poppytalk, Lifehacker, Bloesem and Design Sponge among others. She has published tutorials on the Craft magazine and site and was a guest crafter on HGTV’s That’s Clever.

Her first book, Home, Paper, Scissors: Decorative Paper Accessories for the Home was published in 2009. It is a collection of more than 30 paper craft projects that use paper and recyclable materials. The book has been featured in Do It Yourself Magazine and in Martha Stewart radio. Home, Paper, Scissors is being sold on Amazon.

In 2009 Patricia was a guest crafter on Going Green with Yolanda Green a Houston TV show that sharing environmentally friendly projects.
